The Karoq is a top-drawer family SUV with clever seating options, a big boot and plenty of space inside for passengers. It’s also a pleasure to drive, thanks to its comfortable ride and great visibility – and it has a well made interior. However, Skoda is not planning to produce a hybrid Karoq, so if you want a family SUV with a low company car tax rate, we’d recommend you take a look at the Kia Sportage.

With Sportline trim, you’re mainly paying for a sportier look with its 18in wheels, panoramic roof, sports seats, black detailing, and more aggressive front and rear bumpers. It can't be had with the excellent VarioFlex rear seats.

The 1.5 TSI 150 petrol is our pick of the range. It deals with heavier loads and faster open roads more ably than the 1.0 TSI thanks to a very useful 148bhp and even greater low-rev urgency. Acceleration is punchy throughout the rev range, with 0-60mph taking just under 9.0 seconds.
