The model
Read full reviewThe Toyota Corolla is a fine family car, with hybrid engines that offer exceptionally low running bills. It isn't perfect – its infotainment system is poor, the Skoda Octavia offers much better rear seat space and the Ford Focus is more fun to drive – but on the plus side, it's very comfortable, it benefits from Toyota's exceptional reliability record and you get loads of standard equipment.
get the best priceThe trim
See full equipmentThis range-topping trim is too pricey for us to recommend, even though it adds keyless entry, ambient interior lighting, sports seats, part-leather seats and even bigger (18in) alloys to everything that comes with cheaper Design trim.
The engine
See full engine specsIn many ways, this is the best version of the Corolla, because its 177bhp 2.0-litre hybrid is much punchier and responds far more eagerly when you squeeze its accelerator pedal. However, it's a pity you end up with a much smaller boot than the 1.8-litre hybrid.
