The VW ID 3 is a very good electric car. It's decent to drive, comfortable and with plenty of versions available. The MG4 is even better value against entry-level trims while the Cupra Born is a bit better to drive and has a slightly better interior for a similar price. If you buy an ID 3 we'd recommend going for the Pure Match model, which has plenty of kit and a useful battery range – and avoid the GTX.
The engine
The GTX is basically the GTI of the ID 3 range, with a 322bhp motor that can blast it from 0-62mph in just 5.7sec. Unfortunately, it's nowhere near as easy to live with as the GTI, because it has a very firm ride.
