For the money, the Volkswagen ID.4 is a very good car. It’s practical, the 77kWh battery provides a great electric range, it’s well equipped (in 1st Edition trim) and it’s pretty comfortable and quiet on the move. If you want something faster or more enjoyable to drive, have a look at the Tesla Model 3, or for something cheaper and almost as practical, check out the Kia e-Niro.get the best price

This has a 201bhp motor powering the rear wheels to deliver 0-60mph (when we tested it) in 8.1sec, which is about the same as the Kia e-Niro 2 39kWh. Even with a car full of people and luggage, there’s plenty of zip to get you up to motorway speeds. The Mustang Mach E Standard Range RWD and the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus are quicker but the cannot match the ID.4’s official battery range of 310 miles, although expect around 231 miles in the real world.
