The Volkswagen Taigo is a competent all-rounder and an easily recommendable used buy. However, some of its small SUV rivals are more fun to drive and some are more affordable.
The trim
Entry-level Life trim is generously equipped, with automatic LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, an 8in digital driving display and a touchscreen infotainment system.
The engine
We’ve yet to try the entry-level petrol engine but suspect it could be slightly underpowered because it gives you just 94bhp to play with and takes 11.1sec to get from 0-62mph. You only have the option of a five-speed manual transmission with the entry-level engine.
