Chevrolet’s new Matiz city car arrives in UK showrooms this June, priced from £6095.

The 800cc model has a top speed of 90mph and a combined fuel consumption of 54.3mpg

Chevrolet’ new Matiz city car arrives in UK showrooms this June, priced from £6095.

This rival to the Fiat Panda and Kia Picanto it will be available with two petrol engines – a 51bhp 800cc and a 65bhp 1.0-litre unit.

The 800cc engine is only available in basic S trim and comes with power steering, a CD player and central locking as standard.

SE spec costs £6595 and includes the bigger engine, driver’s seat-height adjustment and electric front windows. The £7695 1.0-litre SX adds air-conditioning, side airbags, electric rear windows and alloy wheels.

All cars in the range get five three-point seatbelts and a rear bench that splits and folds 60/40, but there is no steering-wheel adjustment.

The 800cc is capable of a sprint to 62mph in 18.2sec, a top speed of 90mph, and a fuel consumption of 54.3mpg on the combined cycle. The 2.0-litre can reach 62mph in 9.0sec, goes on to 97mph, and returns 37.7mpg combined.

All models come with a three-year 60,000-mile warranty and three years’ free servicing.
