Bentley's most powerful car ever
- Continental GT Speed tops 200mph
- 600bhp engine emits less CO2
- Prices from £137,500
Bentley has revealed details of its most powerful car ever, the Continental GT Speed.
The car, which goes on sale this month from £137,500, is powered by a 600bhp, six-litre W12 engine. It has an official top speed of 202mph and a 0-60mph time of 4.3 seconds.
The engine is the same one as used in the GT, but it achieves a performance leap by use of lighter and lower-friction materials. This improved efficiency has also slightly lowered carbon dioxide emissions to 396g/km, from 410g/km.
The chassis has also been tuned from the GT to enhance handling, and it also runs on wider 20-inch wheels. Styling tweaks include wider exhaust pipes and a dark-tinted chrome front grille. Ceramic brakes are available as an option.
Bentley first used the 'Speed' tag in 1923, when it launched a three-litre Speed Model to appeal to enthusiast drivers.
The Continental GT has also been upgraded, with its 552bhp engine benefiting from the use of more efficient materials to lower CO2 emissions to 396g/km as well. The ride has also been improved by the use of new dampers. It costs from £120,500.
