New Mercedes S-Class: prices released
- Prices start from £54,975
- Standard kit includes seven-speed auto box
- Options include infra-red night vision
If you fancy a new Mercedes S-Class on your driveway you'll need at least £54,975.
That's how much an entry-level 232bhp S320 CDI turbodiesel on a standard wheelbase costs; a long-wheelbase version adds £4000 to the price of any model in the range.
The cheapest petrol version available at launch on March 16 will be the 268bhp S350 at £56,720, while a 383bhp S500 is priced at £69,770. Mercedes has confirmed that a 510bhp S600 is also to be introduced, but this has not yet been priced. Other models, including the sportier S55 and S65 AMG cars, are also likely to join range eventually.
Standard equipment on all models includes alloy wheels (at least 17-inch diameter), seven-speed automatic gearbox, eight airbags, cruise control system, heated and electrically adjustable front seats and leather upholstery.
Options includes the £1840 Distronic Plus system which can automatically maintain a safe distance from the car in front when the car's cruise control is switched on, even in stop-start traffic, and infra-red night vision at £1200.
