New V8 diesel for Range Rover
- 272bhp V8 turbodiesel for Range Rover
- Prices expected to start at £55K
- On sale towards end of the year
Land Rover will introduce a new 272bhp V8 turbodiesel engine to a face-lifted Range Rover later this year.
The Range Rover TDV8 will cost from around £55,000 to around £75,000, although pricing details and release dates have yet to be confirmed.
The new engine has 472 lb ft of pull, and can power the car from 0 to 60mph in 8.5 seconds and onto a limited top speed of 124mph.
Average fuel consumption is 25.1mpg and carbon dioxide emissions are 299g/km, which, unsurprisingly, put the car into the top company car tax bracket.
The engine is matched to the six-speed auto gearbox used in the car's petrol engines.
Land Rover says the TDV8 is 50% more powerful and 40% faster than the V6 engine it replaces. It also claims to be 75% quieter too.
Other updates to the Range Rover include a tweaks to the cabin and the addition of Land Rover's Terrain Response, which changes the car's settings – such as ride height and gear settings – depending on the type of surface being driven on.
Expect the TDV8 in Land Rover showrooms towards the end of the year.
