Order books open for Clio five-door

New five-door Renault Clio

Buyers wanting the five-door version of the all-new Renault Clio can order the car on November 16.

On sale in January, prices start from £8995 and rise to £15,050.

The five-door will be offered with six engine options – three petrols and three diesels. Petrol buyers can choose between the 1.2-litre (75bhp), 1.4-litre (98bhp) and 1.6-litre (111bhp) powerplants already employed in the three-door hatch.

The excellent 1.5-litre dCi diesel will also be offered in three guises, tuned to deliver 68bhp, 86bhp or 106bhp. The most powerful of these comes with a six-speed manual gearbox.

There are five trim options to choose from, starting with the entry-level Authentique, rising to the luxurious Privilege and Initiale models, which are exclusive to the five-door. Renault claims that the Initiale offers more standard kit than most luxury saloons, including leather seats, metallic paint, 16-inch alloy wheels, cherry wood dash inlay, cruise control, climate control and parking sensors.

All cars get a CD player and front and side airbags, while all except Authentique also have curtain airbags – contributing to the Clio's five-star Euro NCAP crash test rating. Anti-lock brakes and brake assist is standard too, although ESP (electronic stability programme) is a £450 option.

Next year, Renault plans to introduce a paddle-shift gearbox option called Quickshift5, and has also confirmed that the all-new Clio Renaultsport will go on sale in late spring.
