22 June 2007

Alfa Romeo has launched a new, sporty, top-of-the-range trim called TI for its 159 model

Alfa has added a sporty top-of-the-range trim to its 159 compact executive car.

The Alfa 159 TI (which stands for Turismo Internazionale) is available in saloon and estate versions, and features its own bodykit, lowered sports suspension, red Brembo brake calipers, and chrome door handles and exhaust.

In the cabin, there are electrically adjustable, heated front seats, sports dials, and aluminium pedals, kick-plates and trim inserts, as well as a leather sports steering wheel and gearknob.

The 159 TI comes with a choice of three engines. Two are petrol engines - a 182bhp 2.2-litre engine and a 256bhp 3.2-litre V6. The third engine is a 192bhp 2.4-litre diesel. Each is available with manual or Qtronic automatic gearboxes, but only the diesel has the option of Alfa 's Q4 four-wheel-drive system.

Only three colours are available for TI cars - Alfa Red, Stromboli Grey and Carbonio Black.

Prices for the TI models start at £23,400 rising to £28,500, and the new cars are on sale next week.
