Upgrades and new trim for VW Golf Plus

06 April 2006

Volkswagen has upped the specification levels on its Golf Plus range and introduced a new, better-equipped entry-level model.

The new Luna version is the same price as the previous entry-level S-trimmed car, at £12,995 with a 74bhp 1.4-litre petrol, but features more kit.

As well as the front, side and curtain airbags, CD player, air-conditioning, traction control and anti-lock brakes that were fitted before, the Luna also has 15-inch alloy wheels, and body-coloured exterior details.

The car is also more practical, with extra luggage compartments, an extended roof console, split-level boot and automatic headlights and windscreen wipers. VW puts a value of £800 on the additions.

SE models still cost from £15,835, but now feature leather trimmings in the cabin and larger 16-inch alloy wheels, which previously cost £320 as an option.

Sport and GT trim models are unaffected by the overhaul of the range.
