Above all, space and practicality are crucial: what we want is a car with plenty of room inside to act as a family ferry, but with enough permutations in its cabin and seating arrangements to cope with a variety of demands. Mind you, these demands will be financial as much as practical; an MPV also has to be affordable to buy and run, and must come with the right equipment at the right price.
