Road Tax - The tax you must pay to keep a vehicle on public roads, officially called Vehicle Excise Duty (VED).

The amount varies from £60 to £160 for 12 months and is determined by the type of fuel your car uses and the amount of carbon dioxide it emits.

Petrol-electric or LPG hybrids cost the least, big diesels cost the most. For further information, see www.vcacarfueldata.org.uk or www.dvla.gov.uk.
