Alfa Romeo 4C Spider due at Paris motor show

  •  Alfa set to show production 4C Spider at Paris show
  •  Convertible version of the car due to go on sale early next year
  •  New headlights also planned for Coupe version

Alfa Romeo is expected to show the production version of the 4C Spider at the Paris motor show in October.

The finished car is then set to go on sale in early 2015, according to a company insider. An Alfa 4C Spider concept was shown at the 2014 Geneva motor show.

The Spider is also set to go on sale with the enclosed headlights that featured on the concept car, not the lightweight, exposed carbonfibre lights of the production version of the 4C Coupe. The carbonfibre lights save around 3kg of weight, and this race-focused approach is less suited to the Spider, said the company insider.

However, the covered lights of the Spider concept are also set to be offered on the Coupe. Buyers will be able to choose the concepts lights as an optional extra on the Coupe.

The Alfa 4C is offered with just the one, 237bhp, 1.75-litre petrol engine, which covers the 0-62mph sprint in 4.5 seconds. It costs from £45,000 before options, and the Spider is expected to have a slightly higher pricetag.
