It took me a few days to get used to the controls in the Toyota Prius+, but now they're familiar I'm finding the driver's seat a very pleasant place to sit. In particular, I appreciate the relative lack of information forced upon you via the dash, when you might have expected a modern hybrid like the Prius+ to bamboozle you with every detail about how the car is running.
Instead, the area behind the steering wheel is completely bare, so there's nothing to distract you while you're driving, and the digital dash shows you only what you really want to know – there's not even a rev-counter.
Instead, the most exciting things there are two extremely simple displays showing how full the battery is and, when you're driving, whether the car is using power or charging the battery. An 'EV' symbol also appears when the car is using the electric power alone.
I'm a firm believer than less is often more, and in this case less information means more focus on the road ahead.
