Driver fined £182,000 for speeding
The millionaire was caught driving a Ferrari Testarossa through a village in the east of the country.
According to the court’s website, the driver — a repeat offender — was driving at 137kmh (85mph) in a 50mph zone.
The huge fine was based on the unnamed motorist's personal wealth – believed to be in the region of £14 million – and previous offences.
Judges at the court in St Gallen said: 'The accused ignored elementary traffic rules with a powerful vehicle out of a pure desire for speed.'
It is more than double the amount of Switzerland's previous record speeding fine of €74,000 (around £66,000), which was imposed on a motorist driving a Porsche in 2004.
The Swiss daily Blick newspaper revealed the fined motorist's Facebook page lists former F1 champions Michael Schumacher and Kimi Räikkönen among his friends.
