Geneva motor show 2012: Ford Kuga
The new Kuga SUV goes on sale in the UK in early 2013 with an expected starting price of around £22,000. It is longer, more spacious and better equipped than the current Kuga and almost identical to the US-market Escape which was shown at the LA show last November.
However the European version has minor changes to the front end and interior.

Three engine choices will be available at launch, all familiar from the Focus, two 2.0-litre diesels: one with 138bhp, the other 161bhp. It will also have a 148bhp 1.6-litre turbo petrol. Future power options could include hybrid and full-electric options.
As with the current Kuga, front-wheel-drive versions are likely to be the most popular, but range-topping versions will also have a new four-wheel-drive system which is said to react quicker to loss of traction and improve handling over the current car.
As well as extra rear seat space, the new Kuga also offers 442 litres of luggage capacity, 82 litres more than the current car. There’s also the cost-option of a ‘hands-free’ tailgate, where you it’s possible to open the back by waving your foot under the rear bumper.
The Kuga also promises far more sophisticated in-car electronics, either as standard or on the options list.
Ford’s SYNC infotainment connectivity system will be available, as well a Blind Spot Information System which displays a warning light in the door mirror if there’s a potential hazard when changing lanes.
