Honda's classier CR-V

More upmarket styling and an automatic diesel model are the key elements of Hondas face-lifted CR-V.

New bumpers and a redesigned front grille freshen the exterior and there are also new alloy wheel designs.

Honda says the interior has a more premium finish, thanks to a new audio console and upgraded fabrics and plastics.

Improved sound deadening around the engine and cabin are aimed at boosting refinement on the move.

First diesel auto
For the first time, the CR-V will be available with a diesel engine and automatic gearbox. Until now, buyers have had the choice of a diesel manual or petrol auto model.

The new five-speed automatic gearbox comes with a 148bhp version of the CR-Vs 2.2-litre diesel engine.

Lots of kit
Standard equipment for the updated CR-V is comprehensive. SE models come with 17-inch alloy wheels, air-conditioning and heated door mirrors.

Extras on ES trim include larger alloys, cruise control, dual-zone air-conditioning, front and rear parking sensors and half-leather seat trim.

Top-of-the-range EX models have eight-way driver's seat adjustment, xenon headlights, full-leather upholstery, heated front seats, a panoramic glass roof, automatic headlights and wipers and satellite-navigation.

Three new colours Premium White Pearl, Urban Titanium and Alabaster Silver are available.

The face-lifted CR-V goes on sale in January 2010. Full pricing and specification details will be announced later this year.
