Peugeot RCZ is coming - Introduction

  • Dubbed Peugeot's TT
  • Almost identical to concept car
  • From under £20k (est)
It's exactly two years since Peugeot caught everyone on the hop with the RCZ concept car at the 2007 Frankfurt motor show. In just six months' time, you'll be able to buy the production version – and it hasn't been watered down a bit.

The double-bubble roof, with echoes of Peugeot's Le Mans-winning 908 HDi, remains, and so does the wave-pattern rear windscreen it blends into, even though both caused huge problems to make viable for production. The biggest challenge with the rear glass was to get rid of distortions and reflections.

The aluminium roofarches are still there, too. So is the one-piece clamshell bonnet and front wings, complete with pyrotechnic pop-up system to protect pedestrians in a collision – a first on a Peugeot.

Concept and production model even have the same name – RCZ – which makes this is the first Peugeot passenger car not to have three- or four-number badging. There's also an active rear spoiler that wasn't on the show car.
