VW Golf GTI Edition 35 review - What is it?
It has all sorts of styling tweaks to mark it out from other GTIs. There’s a redesigned front bumper, beefier side sills, glossy black mirror housings, darkened rear windows and tail lights, plus an LED-illuminated numberplate. The whole lot sits on top of new 18-inch alloy wheels.
You’ll also notice a '35' badge on each front wing, and you’ll see plenty more inside the car – namely on the sill plates, head restraints and the backrests of the seats.
The big news, though, lies under the bonnet. The Edition 35 has a new detuned version of the Golf R’s turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine. This still gives 25bhp more than the standard GTI’s, and 15lb ft more torque.
