  • Study looks at 450,000 cars in UK and US
  • Mazda, Honda and Toyota take top three spots
  • Jeep and Land Rover place bottom in survey

Mazda, Honda and Toyota are the most reliable cars, according to a new survey

A new reliability survey of nearly half a million cars puts Japanese manufacturers in the top three spots.

Mazda, Honda and Toyota sweep the board in the Warranty Direct survey, which looks at three- to nine-year-old cars in the UK and US. Mazda and Honda both stand out with less than 10% of owners needing to make a claim on their policies with Warranty Direct.

Far-eastern manufacturers take eight of the top 10 places, with Mitsubishi in fourth and Kia in fifth. Only Mini and Citroen sneak into the top 10, in ninth and tenth respectively.

Off-road manufacturers Land Rover and Jeep languish at the bottom of the table, in 32nd and 33rd position. Nearly half of owners make a claim on their cars each year.
