MG will show off a small SUV concept car at next week's Shanghai motor show.

The five-door MG CS concept is said to preview a production version of an MG SUV, which is expected to go on sale in 2014.

MG showed the Icon compact SUV concept at last year's Beijing motor show, but the CS is expected to be much closer in looks to the final production car. Like the Icon, the CS will be based on the same platform as the MG3 supermini.

While the Icon had rear-hinged rear doors, like the Vauxhall Meriva, the CS has gone with a more traditional, front-hinged rear door.

A British-based team designed the CS, lead by MG's global design director Anthony Williams-Kenny. It incorporates a pair of multi-faceted headlights that are said to refract light and colour in many directions.
