New look and more power for C8

Citroen has given its C8 MPV a new look and a more powerful diesel engine option.

Design changes include the Citroen chevrons being incorporated into the front and rear of the car. Inside, the C8 gets new soft-touch materials and extra chrome.

Theres also a new grille, additional chrome inserts and dark-tinted windows and tailgate on the range-topping Exclusive models.

Exclusive models get leather seats, 16-inch alloy wheels and front and rear parking sensors as standard. SX models gain new seat trims, a leather steering wheel and gear knob, a speed limiter and cruise control. LX versions now have an MP3-compatible stereo.

Buyers will also be able to choose a more powerful diesel than before, the 171bhp 2.2 HDi.

The engine will only be available with the top two specification levels, SX and Exclusive.

Matched to an automatic gearbox, the engine gives the car a top speed of 122mph, 0-62mph in 11.7 seconds, and average fuel economy of 42.8mpg. Its likely that the car wont be sold with a manual gearbox, although the final decision has yet to be taken.

Theres no firm word on price yet, but expect a premium of around 1500 compared with the 2.0-litre HDi.

Other models are also likely to be slightly more expensive when the revised car reaches dealers, probably some time next month.
