Seat Leon gets new turbo petrol engine
* 1.4 TSI's performance eclipses 1.6-litre unit * 0-62mph time faster and emissions reduced * High demand may prompt waiting list...
Seat has added a turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol engine to its range - although buyers may have to be patient, because global demand for the engine is outstripping supply.
The 123bhp unit offers superior performance to the 1.6-litre engine in the range, accelerating the Leon from 0-62mph in 9.8sec rather than 11.7sec.
Despite this, it manages 44.1mpg compared with the 1.6-litre unit's 37.2mpg and emits 155g/km of carbon dioxide compared with 180g/km.
The Leon 1.4 TSI is available now in Reference Sport and Stylance trims, priced from 13,755.
