Toyota has named its new coupe the GT 86. The car will be launched at the Tokyo motor show this week ahead of going on sale next summer.
The Toyota GT 86 has a 2+2 seat layout. It is powered by a 197bhp 2.0-litre, four-cylinder boxer engine. The rear-wheel-drive car will come with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed auto.
The car, first revealed as the FT 86 concept car at the Tokyo motor show two years ago, has been co-developed with Subaru, who has already called its version the BRZ.
Full technical details of the Toyota GT 86 (pronounced eight-six, not eighty-six) will be revealed at the Tokyo motor show on Wednesday. Prices have yet to be revealed, but the GT 86 is expected to cost from around £25,000.
