Toyota Venza
Although almost certainly a USA-only model, Toyota's Venza is eye-catching because of its unusual description as a 'crossover sedan'.
That rather woolly description is deliberate, as Toyota is trying to blur the lines between a saloon, an MPV and 4x4. Worry not, though, as it's not the Frankenstein that the description suggests.
Based on the FT-SX concept seen at the Detroit motor show in 2005, the Venza comes with a choice of a 265bhp 3.5-litre V6 or a more frugal 2.7-litre unit, which the company is curiously unwilling to release the power output for. A six-speed semi-automatic gearbox is fitted as standard.
The car is offered in only one trim and safety equipment includes seven airbags, stability control, traction control, brake assist and anti-lock brakes.
The Venza will go on sale in America this year.
