VW launches entry-level Scirocco

  • New entry-level Scirocco
  • 44.1mpg and 146g/km CO2
  • £800 cheaper than existing 1.4 TSI
A new entry-level version of the Volkswagen Scirocco will go on sale next year. It will be available to order from January 4 and come with a 121bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine.

At £18,860, it's £800 cheaper than the current entry-level model, which has a 158bhp engine.

The new model’s 0-62mph time of 9.7 seconds is almost two seconds behind the more powerful car’s, but its CO2 emissions of 146g/km make it the cleanest petrol-engined model in the Scirocco range.

The 121bhp car also returns 44.1mpg – better than the 158bhp car’s 42.8mpg with the same six-speed manual gearbox.

Although this is the entry-level car, standard equipment includes a six-CD autochanger, air-conditioning and 17-inch alloy wheels. Safety features include stability control and six airbags.

Adaptive Chassis Control, which tailors the car's suspension to suit different road conditions, is a £765 option.

GT gets styling pack
At the same time, Volkswagen has also announced a new optional styling pack for GT models.

Available in the New Year, the £950 Lugano Black package includes 19-inch alloys finished in gloss black as well as extra Piano Black inserts in the cabin.
