Hundreds of owners of Bentley Arnages and Azures have had their £225,000 cars recalled because of fears the vehicles' wheels may fall off.
Bentley advised 550 owners to bring their cars in for checks after it was discovered the wheel retaining bolts had been manufactured with the wrong threads.
The models affected are the Azure and Arnage R, T and RL produced between February 2005 and August 2006.
The Government's Vehicle and Operator Services Agency, which issued the recall, warned: 'This can result in the wheel bolts becoming loose, with the possibility that a wheel might detach.'
However, it confirmed that there were no reported incidences of wheels having fallen off cars.
