This is a desirable version of the Galaxy, with generous helpings of power and kit. If you’re willing to forgo a little of each, however, you can save a fair amount of cash.
The Ford Galaxy shares much with the S-Max, but the two cars have different aims: the Galaxy is a full-on MPV, with space for seven adults, but the S-Max trades a little of the Galaxy’s outright people-carrying ability for a sharper driving experience. In other words, if you don’t regularly need to carry seven adults, you may be able to make do with the S-Max – and save a few quid at the same time.
As with the S-Max, the Galaxy has a strong engine range, and the 2.0-litre Ecoboost SCTi petrol is exceptionally smooth and punchy. Finance dictates that most buyers will go for one of the more economical 2.0-litre diesels, which are quiet and flexible, so hardly a poor substitute.
