For The supercharged XKR is effortlessly quick. It's also a quiet cruiser, but has a deep roar when pressed. The active suspension is superb, offering a brilliant blend of comfort and control.

Against The fuel economy will be a shock. The rear seats are on the tight side, so you'd better look elsewhere if you regularly carry more than one passenger.

The XKR is a wonderful high-performance car. It's certainly not cheap to buy and run, but it's worth every penny.

Buyer's notes

Target Price team says:

There's not a huge amount of choice in the XK range. Essentially, it boils down to just how fast you want to go – XK or XKR? – and whether you want a soft- or a hard top, a coupe or a convertible. Whichever you plump for, you'll get a stunning-looking car that mixes GT refinement with sports car sharpness.

However, you can expect high running costs on any model - and not much room in the back seats. If you want your XK to stand out even more, in addition to the usual range of Jaguar accessories, you can also choose from the Portfolio range, which includes items to improve your car's stereo as well as the way your car looks and drives.
