For The 207 is a brilliant all-rounder with a desirable image, high-quality cabin and smooth drive. It's pretty quiet, too, unless you drive it hard.
Against It's pricey, and performance in some versions is flat. Most rivals have more rear legroom, and the ride is firm in the heavy diesel versions.
Great all-rounder which caters well for all shapes and sizes, Peugeot's 207 supermini is refined, safe and stylish, but many models cost a bit more than their rivals.
While the Peugeot 207 range as a whole is far from cheaply priced, the good news is that it is not hard to find big discounts on the list price. For example, our best buy is the 1.4 VTi 95 Active five-door, but our Target Price shows that you should be aiming for a discount of more than £1000.
So whichever model you settle on, don't hand the dealer a cheque for anywhere near the full amount. While the 207's sharp styling makes it desirable as a new car, the same isn’t true of second-hand models.
The 207's resale values are around 10% lower than those of a Volkswagen Polo for example. The knowledge that you are going to have to take a bit of a financial hit come trade-in time, gives even more incentive to haggle hard when buying new. At least running costs are reasonable for most models.
