For Incredibly fast, agile and exciting if you find the right road (or track). Easily capable of keeping up with a Ferrari – for half the money.

Against Other 911s are plusher and easier to live with, so you have to be committed to go for the GT3’s more extreme performance. There are no rear seats, either.

The GT3 is the most exciting Porsche 911. Lighter, lower and more agile than regular models, it’s one of the world’s best sports cars. It’s not for the faint-hearted, though.

Buyer's notes

Target Price team says:

The Porsche 911 is a terrific proposition for those wanting an accomplished sports car - but the greatest achievement here is that it can be much more than that. In any model (but for the track-oriented GT3, which has sold out anyway) there’s enough cruising refinement and everyday usability for the 911 to be an everyday GT. It’ll take you from one side of the country to the other in refined comfort, yet turn into a thrilling hooligan upon request.

The Turbo models are best avoided; they are breathtakingly rapid, but the lower-powered models are better value and just as much fun. If you don’t want to spend six-figures on your 911, the base Carrera is a delight, and should be top of your list.

If you want a bit more bite and are willing to pay for it, go straight for the rear-wheel drive Carrera GTS. It's brilliant in manual or PDK form, so whichever suits your needs best will be fine.
