Now up to 9000 miles so i thought i would update my first impressions. First for the no as impressed is the fuel economy as it has actually gone down to 45mpg on mostly motorway driving which is disappointing. The only other gripe is some of the Audi service as the wiper blades where shot from around 1000 miles (apparently the wrong cleaner could have been used on the PDI). I followed thier advise on cleaning the blades but they did not improve but have been told if i want replacements i will have to buy new even though they agree wipers should last more than 1 month in the summer! Poor show. And thats it for the bad. The pedal positioning is no so uncomfortable anymore (though having driven a friends multitronic i agree they are much better set)and i still love the look and recieve many comments even now. But by far the best part is the drive, whilst not as quick as some cars i've owned it is the best alround experience as it offers excellent grip, roadholding and balance with enough power to avoid frustration.
This car is great to drive and very comfortable in the front. However rear space, both legroom and width is very poor; as my daughter is getting bigger we will not be getting another A4. The rear bumper scratches so easily - even if you just look at it in a funny way. Finally for approx. £27k of car some very annoying niggles such as some covers in the boot not fitting properly. Next time I'll choose something other than Audi.

Why is there so much whining about the rear sets? It's small - it's called a "mini" (hint). It didn't get any smaller after you bought it, so deal…
