I've just replaced this car with another A4 after 110,000 miles driving in 30 months. It's a great, trouble-free motorway cruiser.
The only problem with the new one is that the radio no longer has long-wave, so I can't get Test Match Special on 198 frequency!
OK, it arrived today so I can't comment on every aspect of ownership - but so far, this car is more fun than you can poke a stick at.
I got the S Line with 18" alloys in Quartz Grey and it's a stunner. Ride quality is terrific and firm while the multitronic gearbox has a clutchless manual option - which is great when you're sharing with a auto driver but you want the ability to drive it like a manual.
I can't fault it even having the basic non-turbo engine. The spec is high quality, leather stitching is superb while driver info system and DVD sat nav are...err, complicated but who wants a car so intuitive that it takes all the fun out of it. There's so much to just play with (if you get a few gadgets with it like DVD sat nav - currently 75% off until June).
If you're thinking of buying one, I'd suggest DealDrivers.co.uk who got me 11% off (including options) through Doncaster Audi - who provided excellent, friendly and professional service. I'm not being paid for this endorsement, honest, it's just a good car from a good company provided by a good dealership. Excellent.
I have owned this car for the past 4 years, I bought it when it was 2 years old. At first everything was fine, but after the initial honeymoon period the problems came thick and fast. I have had issues from everything relating from the turbo to the ecu unit. Other problems have been related to the audio equipment, misfiring (still undiagnoised by the garage), a strange lack of power on occaisions, rattles and squeaks.
The worst thing that i have found is that basic diy jobs such as changing headlight or break light bulbs are not possible to do yourself. The Labour charges in the audi garage are crazy. Parts are expensive.
I thought at first i would buy another audi, however after all this, certainly not!!!
I had one of these until it was stolen. Ironically, this was a blessing in disguise - I wouldn't touch another with a barge pole. Parts were expensive and boy, did we need a lot of them.
The servicing was expensive, too. It was never out of the garage, and never passed any MoT. Considering I used it only as a runabout and do less than 6000 miles a year, that's pretty rubbish, really.
I had it break down four times in the first year we had it - you only get three tows with the AA, so let's just say it was a very unreliable car.
I'm suprised as Audi has a good reputation. Anyway, like I said, my car was stolen, never to be seen again. I had nothing but hassle with it - maybe we were just unlucky?
Order a brochure, find your nearest dealer or book a test drive
I've had 6 VWs now including this one and it is a mixed bag. In no particular order the economy is poor despite the FSI badging and in town never…
Why is there so much whining about the rear sets? It's small - it's called a "mini" (hint). It didn't get any smaller after you bought it, so deal…
