    My car

Had an '06 320d before this but after seeing the facelifted model I decided that BMW had finally made the 3 series ugly enough for me to stop buying it.

It's a cliché, but the best thing about this car is the interior which makes the car feel expensive. The exterior also looks good and isn't bland or weedy like the current 3 series.

The Audi rides better and can take corners faster but isn't as satisfying as the BMW to drive (at any speed). I think this is mainly to do with the size/weight but the steering can also be a bit unpredicable.

However, given the overall strengths of this car I'm glad I switched and will be surprised if doesn't outsell the 3 series in 2009.

    My car

I have had this car for just over two weeks now and have covered just under 450 miles (driving the car when i don't have to lol), I previously had a 54reg A4 1.9 TDI Quattro Sport. I must say that the leap forward as a whole is massive and i'm so glad to have changed back to petrol. The handling as a whole is a revelation for such a large car, while I admit that the 3 series may have the edge at the limit how many of us truly drive our cars to the limit? In real world conditions this car is more than capable of keeping up with or passing a 3 Series.

Having borrowed a 3 series (330i M Sport) for a week while the dealer manager was on holiday, which I must say was going above and beyond on the deals behalf, I really loved this car but I can honestly say that there is no area in which the 3 series is better apart from the above mentioned.

The engine punches well above its class and it's not even close to run in yet. The torque and power bands are massive and bring the car very close to the 330i in terms of performance and trouce it on emissions and MPG.

All in all I cannot recommend this car highly enough and think WhatCars recently changed rating of 3 stars (used to be 4 star) is highly unfair.

    My car

Just covered first 2500 miles without a hitch. Went for the multitronic box (my first auto) and love it and will never get a manual again. 8 speed "paddle shift" is a bit of a gimic but llols great in the s-line. Suspension is a dream compared to 3 series and for a front wheel drive big car its very nimble with loads of grip when cornering. SD card slot is brlliant with all track info displayed on the infotainment main screen and dashboard screen. Voice contol with bluetooth option is a must. Only thing is you may need to ask dealer to do software update for Blackberry devices but it only takes 5 mins

    My car

have had three A4s now but mostly non-Audis over the years. This is the best car I have had.

I have got for the automatic 2.0 SE A4 TDI, with front and rear parking sensors. The sensors proved their worth on the first day - detecting a small wooden stake in the garden as I was trying to reverse into a small space.

The new A4 is a lot quieter than the previous version and the difference is quite startling. The road handling is good (although I rarely drive fast) and the automatic wipers and lights very useful.

As for the automatic gearbox, it makes driving so much easier in built up areas. Do buy the hillstart option for £50: it makes things even easier.

Very pleased overall. A smart car that is also smart looking. My friend has a 3-series diesel, but he prefers the new A4!
