I have owned an Audi A8 for over a year now, and it is superb. I can't believe how refined and comfortable it is, and the performance for a V8 diesel is just unbelievable.
I've got a dark blue exterior with a dark grey interior with wood fascia and heated electric seats in the rear. The car is truly amazing - it's huge and it feels as though it has been put together in a strong way.
I bought the car brand new for just over £68,000, and it is now worth over £40,000 now with only 5,000 miles on the clock.
I will almost definetly buy another - maybe the Audi A8 6.0 W12 LWB or the new Audi S8 V10.
The A8 is a stunning car - it's great for long distances, with good fuel economy and performance.
It is just a shame they can't get the electrics right. Mine failed after a week, then again on its first birthday. It also had silly, niggly problems, such as the boot hinges seizing, and a rattle from behind the dashboard.
The dealer is saved by a couple of superb staff members, but on the whole is not as good as the BMW dealer who previously looked after my cars (X5 and 7 Series)
Buy an A8 and you'll love it, but Audi - please, please work on the details.
This aluminium-bodied brute combined with the 4.2TDI engine gives it incredible torque available at a blip of the throttle.
The steering isn't as involving to drive as a BMWs and the LWB does feel slightly light on the nose when on a bend at speed.
Build quality is grade one and the Multi-Media interface is easy to use. Some options are very expensive (rear trays), however this is the case on most cars of this class. The 2003 model I drove didn't have retractable door mirrors which I found odd.
Also, insurance is high on this car because of the aluminium chassis and body panels. its a revelation nevertheless, a refined, effortless diesel with good economy.
I bought this car new in September 2005 and found the build quality first class. The performance and overall drive was very good too, but I have since had the engine tweaked and it now gives me supercar levels of torque. Believe it or not, the fuel economy has improved. Highly recommended.

I've had 6 VWs now including this one and it is a mixed bag. In no particular order the economy is poor despite the FSI badging and in town never…
Why is there so much whining about the rear sets? It's small - it's called a "mini" (hint). It didn't get any smaller after you bought it, so deal…
