This is the third BMW 3-series I have owned and the third to suffer from serious problems.
The first suffered a failure of the engine management system, the second let water in through the rear passenger door and the current one has had a complete rewire and nearly wrote off the engine following a major oil leak caused by a servicing error.
On all these occasions, the dealer's response was that the faults were caused by "design flaws".
So, I have found BMWs to be very unreliable and their dealers to have a disappointing attitude. This is will be the last BMW I buy.
It's our second and we are delighted with it. Let's hope the new model is as good!
330d sport auto-204bhp 2003.
It looks and feels fantastic, seems to be a lot of road noise coming into cabin from the 18-inch wheels, which are standard on Sport models. The suspension doesn't feel right at town driving - it feels a bit stodgy. The front end of the car seems a bit wobbly when going over potholes. However it's a dream to drive on the motorway.
Terrific to drive - beating seven bells out of any Audi, comparable or not.
The spartan interior is offset by tighter suspension, an M steering wheel, wider tyres on lightweight alloys and (finally, for 2003!) a std CD player. For those who get their kicks pressing buttons, it's not the spec for them. For those who prefer to get on with driving, it's a great (and remarkably cheap) bet.

Just completed 100k miles in my company Mondeo which I've had for just over two years and am still delighted with it. No rattles, no squeaks and never…
Bought car 2009 at 40k miles on clock. Since then I've had to replace both rear electronic brake calipers, to be fair this is probably wear and tear…
