    My car

A great drive - effortless performance from a quiet and comfortable package.

The standard interior lacks a quality feel but adding wood and leather has improved it.

Overall it's a very good car and fabulous to drive. I'm sure it will prove a delight over the long term.

    My car

I've had a 530d for 5 months and 11,000 miles now. The handling is great with the 530d a positive joy to drive in the wet with fantastic electronic driver aids.

The ride is smooth and the car very quiet. The power delivery is outstanding and the engine smooth at any point in the rev range.

The car is surprisingly easy to stall with revs needed to set off in first. The gear change is a little slow with a long gear lever throw. I like the 18,000 mile service interval.

Fuel consumption has averaged 36 mpg - the official combined 40mpg doesn't look achievable with such accessible performance. The low CO2 emissions are an absolute winner on the company car list.

The car is large but the size melts away over the first few weeks. The driving position is excellent with loads of front head room though there is no more interior space than the VW Passat. About four hours playing on the I drive and you will have it sussed.

The looks grow on you and I now love the new 5-series from all angles - it is much better in the flesh than in photographs. I have always enjoyed driving but the 530d has transformed the experience.
