Interior plastics aside, it is an excellent vehicle, plenty of grunt, good economy, reasonable refinement, engine wise. A much overlooked but thoroughly practical and enjoyable car. It's something different from the norm without any of the drawbacks. Unfortunately I have had appalling service from the dealership. I presently have an airbag fault which has been outstanding for three months. I will not be purchasing another Chrysler for this reason, a shame.
I last did a review on this car in 2004 and still feel exactly the same, unfortunately I now have to sell my pride and joy due to the fact that I am emigrating to cyprus.... My 2002 flame red cruiser was and still is my dream car. It drives like a dream and turns heads wherever you go. Parts are a bit more expensive than your run of the mill motor but if you want to live the dream you have to expect expenses. My diesel model has given me no problems at all. I had to buy an indicator stalk and 2 new tyres and thats it in 5 years! If I ever come back to the UK i would not hesitate in buying another so all those who moan about them dont buy one ! Its american and they arent as fussy as some brits about certain things. LONG LIVE THE PT CRUISER! Love you and will miss you when I go!
An excellent car that crosses an interesting divide between an MPV and good sized family car.
This is not a sports car - but a practical and reliable family car with a quirky character that in my opinion puts in the same league as the new Mini and the new VW Beetle.
Whilst it may lack some of the seating flexibility of a pure MPV, it is a very comfortable car for a family of five.
Perhaps its only down-fall in this regard is that it is not quite capable of consuming the luggage required to support a family of five including a baby on a two-week family holiday - but then outside the larger MPV's what can?
The tumble and fold action of the seats has proved very simple to operate one-handed - and makes the car very flexible for an occasional DIY enthusiast capable of absorbing long planks and heavy bulky loads with ease.
I find the handling great - with a noticeable kick as the turbo operates from around 1500 rpm.
Now that the car has run in, the diesel noises are significantly quieter. I have been very pleased with the solid build of the car - a significant improvement over the Ford Galaxy and Rover I used to own.
I have found my experience with Chrysler dealers to be good, and reliable - if not cheap. I was however caught out when my local dealership closed.
I would have no hesitation recommending this car to anyone who likes quirkiness combined with practicality.
A fantastic car in all respects - it has the looks comfort and power. And you feel very safe when in it. Everyone who has riden in it has passed very positive comments.
