This was my wifes car, and i loved it. It done everything we required off it. It took the kids to school, it would do a run to the dump, it was so versitile, it was an amazing little car. We had the 2.0 Hdi and it went really well.
The downside, if i had to pick fault i would say the seats felt like they would give way under my weight over time, 18 stone. But on saying that 2 years and 25,000 mile they never did. But the interior was built to a cost but nothing ever broke. Highly recomended, wish we never ever sold it for a new shape astra which has given us nothing but trouble from new. Would buy another tomorrow.
My Father brought his 2002 Berlingo soon after opening our own business the Berlingo was good value and after 5 years has proved a good workhorse, it is hard to imagine any other car being as usful. It can do a trip to cash and carry fully laden, then come home to transport the whole family out for the day. Citroen certainly done their research and have got a car worth its weight in gold. The Dealer in Chippenham has been so good and a real asset to Citroen that in total we have purchased four cars since Sep 2002 and will be looking at replacing our faithful old berlingo this year.
Me and my husband love our Berlingo !!!! We go powerkiting with bags of kites, equipment and a buggy that fits great in the back with the seats down. We go camping and get all the gear in the back, we go picnicing and hiking and you guessed...all the gear goes in the back! It's a shame everyone thinks these cars are for kids and wheelchairs! They are also great for people with active lives. We do loads to the gallon, great all round vision, love all the storage. A great hardy vehicle to just pack and go.A no nonsense car. When this one starts losing a bit of value we will definately go straight for another...next time with air con. After driving a flimsy fiesta previously, I feel really safe in this car, it feels substantial. Can't praise it enough!
I submitted an initial review of this car last year as I was one of the first to take delivery of a Series III Berlingo in November 2005.
Air-conditioning has been a huge boon this summer - it's definitely worth the extra, and the rain-senstive wipers which I dismissed as a gimmick are surprisingly useful.
Now, at 10,000 miles, the 1.6HDi unit is consistently returning 55mpg on the combined cycle, and at modest motorway speeds (65mph) it will average around 66mpg.
There have been no faults or niggles so far. It's good, practical, efficient with great visibility and economy - I've grown rather fond of it.
