    My car

It's nippy around town, easy to park in small spaces but the clutch is not good in stop-crawl traffic!

It doesn't feel so good on the motorway either. At 850 miles I had problems. With not enough revs, the car stalled and would not hill start. Citroen Assist wanted a credit card number before loaning a car, there was an insurance excess of £150 and fuel of £50. I was not prepared to accept this as my car was recently broken into.

The dealers were unhelpful and I had to pay insurance to loan a car from them. They would not budge! I will never buy another car from them. They have been unable to identify the fault!

    My car

This car was built by Noddy with a plastic hammer on a Friday. In 18 months, trim has just fallen off, the radio has been replaced three times, the air-conditioning has failed, it needed a new wiring loom and consumes oil like the USA. In fact I am thinking of drilling for the black stuff in the back garden.

Purchased from a large main dealer, they have worked hard to put me off buying another from them. I have apologised for being a customer and will not grace their showroom again. In the meantime I have found a smaller dealer who has taken on the beast, they have gone a long way to restoring by faith in the car.

On the positive side it starts in the morning, has great fuel consumption and goes like a rocket.

    My car

We own a 2002 standard HDi Exclusive - not the 16v version. We've knocked up 26,000 miles of mainly trouble-free motoring. However on New Years Day, the front suspension collapsed.

Having just left the motorway and driving very slowly was fortuitous, although a couple of thousand pounds worth of (warranty) repairs were needed. The car was off the raod for seven weeks! I have nothing but praise for the main dealer, who provided a replacement vehicle quickly and kept us advised of the progress of the repair.

The vehicle eventually came home to us, only to return a month later to the dealer with a failed lower ball-joint and excessive squeaking from the steering column. That has now been fixed, but the front suspension creaks like there's no tomorrow and we've completely lost faith in the car.

So, the dealer was excellent but Citroen (UK) was absolutely useless. And the C3 is a great car but I wouldn't expect it to last much past the three-year warranty! We've just bought a Honda Jazz and hope not to see the C3 again!

    My car

Great engine, fast and frugal, getting steady 55mpg on very mixed use. I have seen 60mpg at an average speed of 60 mph on motorway trips.

Comfort is not its best point, much rockier ride than any other Citroen I know. And boot space is poor with very high loading lip. And why do the rear seats not fold flat?

Good spec for the money. Digital speedo is OK once you are used to it.
