I managed to pick up my 1.6 Hdi 110bhp SX as a PX and it was only 2 months old!
My first tank of diesel returned 55mpg on my daily commute, which Im really pleased with.
Excellent drive. Nice and comfortable. Quite roomy. Quick enough for most people. Nice sized boot, for a car of this size.
Downsides:
You can feel the growly diesel engine through the clutch pedal when you accelerate.
The sunvisors don't reach into the corners far enough, so if the sun is ahead and slightly to the right the driver gets it in the eye because the sunvisor leaves a gap to the door pillar.
Occassionally you get a bit of a lag at low revs before the engine picks up, usually in 1st or 2nd gear, if you dont give it enough revs. If you give it too much revs then you fly off like a racing driver.
I have owned my C4 for four weeks and I am very impressed with it so far. The reviews I read prior to buying it were quite accurate, although I would probably say some of the negative points were a bit harsh, although I suppose the guys who test cars professionally will always be more objective than a new owner.
My car has done just under 1000 miles, mostly on short journeys, and it has given me an average return of 41.8mpg, which after running a Chrysler Grand Voyager is pretty good.
One word of warning - the bonnet catch is on the nearside and for that reason the only external lock on the car is on the near side and you only get one remote key. This means that the second driver of the car (which in our case is me) will have to manually unlock the passenger door and walk around the car to get in. Make sure you get a second key as part of your deal or it could cost you £70 for a second one.
Other than that, I am totally satisfied with my C4, and I like the fact that, as they're new you don't see one every third car. I would recommend a test drive to any potential buyer.
The 04 was a very nice car to drive, but there are too many features on the top-of-the-range diesel that are on the steering wheel.
It confused me and took my concentration off the road.
The amount of features that the car offers is very good. But everything is on the steering wheel coloumn, which is not very good. Overall a nice car though.
I've only just got one, but so far no real problem. I'm disappointed that there's only one rear foglight which is on the curb side when driving on the Continent. Other than that, the driver's seatbelt buckle is hard to access for anyone of reasonable proportions. Initial driving seems as though it will be good, but I'll let you know later.
