Took at 2.0 TDCI Ghia for a test drive yesterday, very impressed. Handling is superb and its a joy to drive. Not keen on the cheap looking wood panels on the Ghia they look awful. Lots of space inside and a huge boot. I would deffinately buy one of these.
I have been lucky enough to drive one of these great new cars, Ford have done an excellent job with the MK4 Mondeo, as i have had every other Mondeo Built. Once inside the car it felt very upmarket, very premium. Excellent trim although the Ghia trim is not to my liking although i do like the Titanium X Trim. Was very impressed with the 6 gears. Very room, very comfortable and a joy to drive. Very smooth, very quiet, couldnt hear any wind noise, or engine noise. Handles beautifully on those country rounds.
I have already placed my order for one of these what i am sure will be, a best seller and possibly car of the year 2008.
Well done Ford on bringing us another great car.
I recently had the pleasure of being invited by Ford, through their Talkback company car drivers club, to have a pre-launch test drive of the new Mondeo for a week and I have to admit to being blown away. I have driven many Mondeos, and my recent company cars have been a Jaguar X-Type and a VW Passat, but this car raises the bar beyond it's obvious competitors, such as the Vectra, and it's not so obvious competitors, from BMW and Audi.
The build quality is fantastic, both externally and internally. The car looks great, taking leads from, in my opinion, cars such as the Lexus IS and even it's big cousins at Aston Martin. The interior specification is hugely impressive too, particularly with the LCD screen on the dash and the control that it provides. The model that I had also had the adaptive cruise control (AAC) that Mercedes S class drivers have enjoyed for years. The inclusion of such technology is a good representation of Ford's intentions to raise it's profile and it shows! As it happens, I didn't like the AAC but I am sure that this is because the 2 litre petrol felt a little underpowered to pull this big car but also because it was a manual. On an auto diesel, for example, it will be amazing - albeit a little steep at a £1,000 option.
That one gripe aside, the best reference that I can give this car is that when I choose my next company car in 3 months time, I will be telling them to keep their X-Type, Passat and S60 - I'm going back to Ford!
