    My car

I took ownership of this car the weekend they were launched in the UK & have done almost 40,000 miles in it. Overall, I averaged 43 mpg until I had it electronically tuned which improved the power significantly & increased the fuel economy to 48 mpg. The car is nice to drive & handles very well. The boot is huge, there is plenty of room inside the car & it is well equiped. From the start, the car felt very big to drive & it still does, far bigger than my last Mondeo. My only complaint is the amount of water that poors into the boot after it has rained. Like all Mondeos though, when I come to trade it in after 3 - 4 years, I expect to get very little for it.

FORTUNATE TO HAVE THIS CAR OVER A FULL WEEKEND WHICH GIVES YOU A BETTER CHANCE TO REALISE HOW GOOD THIS NEW MODEL IS. BRILLIANT TO DRIVE, GREAT CABIN,QUIET EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS QUALITY. FOR THE "CAR SNOBS" OUT THERE WHO WILL CHOOSE 3-SERIES, A4's ETC I CAN SERIOUSLY SAY YOU WILL BE THE LOSER HERE. THE CAR IS FABULOUS AND IT'S COMPETITORS SHOULD REALISE HOW GOOD THIS CAR IS.

ONLY COMPLAINT WOULD BE THE AWFUL WOOD EFFECT ON THE GHIA - FORD NEED TO CHANGE THIS IMMEDIATELY. I WOULD HAVE ALSO PREFERRED THE MIRRORS TO INCORPORATE THE INDICATORS-SIMILAR TO THE PASSAT. ON GETTING BACK IN MY CURRENT MONDEO I COULDN'T BELIEVE HOW SMALL IT SEEMED.

    My car

Just got back from a test drive, and in over 30 years of driving and owning in excess of 50 different cars, I have never been so instantly impressed by one car.

I travel over 30,000 business miles a year and have great faith in the robust nature of Fords current products, but I usually feel that it lacks the ultimate refinement of say an Audi, Volvo or BMW, not any more !

Perhaps if I was looking for the ultimate driving experiece I might be tempted to say the BMW was a better drive, but it still falls short when the car has the foot pedels and the wheel out of line, {1 and 3 series} ok if you have an automatic but with a manual it has the potential to set up back problems, and the cabin is fine but not in the Audi league.

The volvos have always been a favorite, great seats but a bit flacid on the handeling front and with a decent wheel and tyre combinations a bit harsh.

The Audi, which I currently own is just a great all rounder, not brilliant at anything, but always comfortable, reliable and lowish running costs with great build quality.

Which brings me back to the FORD ! Its accomplished in every area that the others are so good in, but at a price that makes the others appear such poor value. If BMW had made it, there would be a two year waiting list, shame then that the FORD has a badge problem for some of us!

But for me no problem, I am off to order one today, I don't even care if I dont get much of a discount!

    My car

I've tested 2.0 tdci titanium. Really suprised, enjoyed the driving. Car looks spacious and dynamic, inside quality is high. Seems I will have hard time selecting amongst VW Passat, Saab95 or this new Ford Mondeo when choosing company car. I see few weak points eg. front panel air grid reflection on front window or curiosity in selected feature sets in Ghia or Titanium.
