Driven both the 2.2 diesel and the 2.4 petrol, against a 3 Series, C Class, X Type.
The interior is as well made as most of them, and has more driver space than some. It feels the same quality, which is where I disagree with What Car?. And how may 22k cars have sat-nav (DVD-based no less), xenon lights, cruise, sunroof, and heated seats AND leather as standard for 23k?
The diesel is very refined and wonderfully smooth, but its only a diesel, so the 2.4 petrol is the one to get for performance. It's like no previous powerful Honda 4 in that there is plenty of lower down torque. Between 3k and 4.5k ish it's strong, much stronger then the previous Type R. Above this and it spins all the way to the red line in typical Honda fashion. The saloon hits 60 in under 8sec and it feels it. It's worth paying the extra fuel.
This Accord is really the thinking person's car.
The 2.2-litre CTDi is not a bad car, however it is not a strikingly good car. The engine is squeaky-clean for the benefit of company car drivers, however although it is smooth and quite quick, it seems to lack a bit of punch. It's no match for the new Audi 2.0 TDi (EU 4).
The interior feels a bit spongey, but the seats are good. The alloy wheels are starting to blister after only eight months, and the brakes seem a bit soft and don't inspire confidence.
The end result is an OK/good car, but definitely not a top contender!
Just taken delivery of this car and what a delight it has been so far. The cabin is superb, equipment levels are very high and the engine is a dream.
Honda have done a superb job with their first diesel. I had looked at a few others and nothing came close to giving the same mix of performance, fuel economy and low carbon dioxide emissions.
Some doubt has been cast as to whether the Accord is worth the extra over other models such as the Mazda 6. My answer would be a firm yes, especially when you see the savings to be made as a company car driver with extremely low emissions. I can't praise it highly enough.
The car is superb in many respects. This is the third Honda car I have owned. First was a 98 model CIVIC 1.4 is, second was 2002 model CIVIC 1.5 FERIO, and I currently own an ACCORD 2.0 EXECUTIVE. There is one odd thing peculiar to all. They all import considerable wind noise while cruising. I have nothing else to complain about all.

Had this car for 90k from new. A 56 plate. In over 2,000,000 miles driven this one has broken down the most of any car I have had. DO NOT get a 2.0…
