A fine car to be in and drive - now a diesel convert.
Done less than 6,000 miles (5 months) and niggles are starting to show. A horrible smell coming in to cabin like a catalytic converter (2 colleagues also have same problem, but local dealer says mine is the first complaint) that is awaiting repair. Defective battery and the dealer (Alan Day) didn't have a replacement. Offered a used one as a three day temp replacement but that failed next morning. Looked and amazingly like the original - even down to the wipe marks that the AA man left on it... Small rust spot on bonnet.
Good thing the brochure had the usual caveats about it not forming a contract etc - the car was delivered with a number of supposedly standard fitment items missing.
The first 5 months have been a let-down on both quality and after-sales service. Would not pick another Accord
Build quality is superb - I came to the car from a Passat, and the Honda is better.
Drives brilliantly, I forget it's an estate half the time.
Very responsive, good gearbox - but not the quickest of cars, although it handles well.
Boot space is enormous, and really well thought out.
My deal includes the first 2 services for free, and it came with 3 years AA cover.
The only disappointment is fuel economy - 28-31 is my range. I feel it should be higher, although I came from a diesel, so maybe my expectations are too high.
Our Honda, Harriet, has recently had her 75,000 mile sevice. As I've said before, she has a fabulous drive and ride and is great load lugger even without the seats folded.
She is going in tomorrow to have the back seat mechanism tightened and hopefully this will stop the rattle like it did when I had her from new in May 2005.
She rattles and creaks more times than a haunted house now and then but hey, turn the stereo up.
She run's really well on V Power diesel - thought this was a con but after reading a test I had a go myself and now fill up every four tanks with the stuff.
Would I buy another? Probably not. I think I will have to buy German next time and hope the quality and fit is as good as the shoes I sell.
Like every car there is good point and bad points, l bought this car in April 05 from UK.
Negative points 1. l had the factory fitted sat nav put into my car, which worked well in UK, But as I drove through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany the system kept getting lost or going of track! So this meant having to recalerbrate the sat nav at every country.
2. Have you tried puting a child booster in and conecting the seat belts. Not very user friendly !! we use two boosters in our car which leaves very little room for our third child.
3. Headlights are my other grievance with this car as it cost me £500. to get continental lights fitted front and rear! Why couldn't they have a switch like the Saab, BMW ,so you can change from UK to European?
4. People at work call it a hearse
Good points 1. at 130mph (on German Autobahns) this car feels very safe and is one of the quitest cars I have been in.
2. Like all Hondas you do get a lot for you money
Would I buy another?
NO!!! This car is a good car but if you have 3 children it just doesn't work!
Order a brochure, find your nearest dealer or book a test drive
