My 05 jazz is slightly dissapointing . It is fantastic in so many ways excellent use of space really clever seating arangements. It drives well not a rocket ship but thats so not the point and gear changes feel clunky . The main disapointment is steaming of all windows at the first sniff of rain i dont want to sit with the fan on over heating every one. In my 98 fiesta fair enough but this should be better. Also servicing costs (shim replacement at 25000 mls) £360. I like it its good but for the higher premium you pay it should be better.Hopefully i learn its ways and love it just a little underwhelmed at the moment.
For - comfy and BIG - loads of space.
Against - automatic transmission was sluggish (even on sport setting), blindspots to the sides (front and back - due to large grey pillars) if you are a short person (I'm 5'4"), front windscreen wiper can't reach all of the panoramic windscreen.
This was my insurance replacement car (someone rear-ended my Clio). It's okay if you need loads of space, not so good if you want any sort of acceleration.
This is my second Jazz. I decided to replace the first one at 3 years so I did not have to fuss with MOTs. I could not find another super-mini that held the same amount of equipment I need for my work in the boot (the Nissan note managed it only with back seats fully pushed forward). Needless to say I was very pleased with my first Jazz. I am equally pleased with the cabin, boot and driving comfort of the new one. However I noticed immediately the power loss on pulling off that another reviewer has reported- Taunton Honda main dealer said they could not find a problem but when it came back from a check it seemed a bit better. It has never completely gone and the MPG has never been as good as the first one. I have been plagued by punctures this year but the car has handles safely even when a rear wheel pressure dropped to 8. I hope the new 2009 model will have integrated hands-free phone and Sat-nav and sound system, and the boot light mounted high enough to actually be worth replacing the bulb. Bring on the hybrid Jazz too.
My wife has an 02 plate Jazz that just keeps going. It is used in stop-start city traffic and rarely sees the open road. Over its life 2 excellent dealers in different parts of the country have looked after it and costs have been low. Gearbox is a delight. Engine smooth; in fact I have to keep glancing at the rev counter to check it's running. Interior space is awesome, whether with 4/5 people on board or when we are in off to the tip mode.
Downside - interior is a bit plasticky and ride is a bit harsh but as a practical runabout that flexes to demands. I can't find better. We are looking to replace it but can't find anything in class that we want more. We have never owned 2 cars the same but it may happen when we finally retire the Jazz. Waiting for the new model to decide.
