    My car

My Jaguar X type estate replaced a Rover 75 V6 petrol. I had admired the X type estate for a while, so went view an X type estate sports premium with an impressive list of extras including sat nav, Jaguar voice, xeon headlights, premium sound, 18" wheels, bluetooth phone.

Eight months later I still love the car, the estate is spacious with a very large load area. I have the full leather sports seats which seem to be the best choice with large bolsters to keep you in place. The 18" wheels give a slightly harder ride which is especially noticable on poor road surfaces. The road handling is excellent.

There is room in the back for three children, the only complaint is the lack of rear vents. The centre touch screen is much nicer than the cheap looking buttons it replaces. I have the piano black wood and this sets off the black interior nicely. Jag have cut a few corners in places they hope you won't look, like the footwell lights do not have covers, instead they are bare bulbs. I probably wouldn't bother with again is Jaguar voice. This is the voice command system for controlling the sat nav, phone, audio system, climate control. It takes a few seconds to understand commands and will often get them wrong.

The car has been back to the dealer for a couple of warranty jobs. Firstly the sound system would stop working on occasions. The second fault was a DSC warning would come up on the dashboard LCD display. .

    My car

I have had this car since November. I took a day out to test drive most of the usual suspects - a Mercedes C-Class, BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 etc. The X-type was the last test drive of the day, and as soon as I sat in it a broad smile appeared on my face!

Sure, the BMW stuck like glue to the road and gave the best handling, but the Jaguar (in addition to great handling and performance) just oozes an understated elegance and refinement... on a reasonable budget to boot.

Even after three months, that smile still appears every time I sit in the car. My only gripe so far is that the car is screaming out for an automatic gearbox, which I understand will be available from March (damn!).

    My car

Bought the car in December and both the car and the buying experience through the Chichester garage (Harwoods) was excellent. The car has a smoothness and quality feel about it and having test driven BMWs is a much better car. Driving it is a real joy and the 2.2D gives an excellent performance, particularly acclerating in 3rd and the 6th gear makes for excellent cruising on motorways. The standard fittings on the SE model are great and much better than any of the rivals. In short I am delighted .
