    My car

    In my first review I said I didnt think the Jaguar was finished as well as my previous BMW , but that time would tell. Well 7 months on and 18,000 miles later . The car has been in the garage 3 times for quite serious faults ( it went on to "limp home mode" on a French motorway 700 miles from home !!). The boot opens when it wants , so does the petrol cap , the headlights are less then useless , it doesnt kick down when you want it to ( only a problem when you are passing slower traffic with a large lorry hurtling towards you ) the garage seemed sympathetic to this but after a couple of attempts still havent fixed it. Still it must have something about it ......I love this car!! . Its always intersting even if I seem to be heading the fault finding mission for Jaguar UK .

    My car

    This is a review from a test drive only, so I accept those that own an XF will have a more informed opinion than me.

    I have to agree with a lot of what Gary Wynn said. I thought this was going to be my dream car, having seen them on the road and read all the reviews. The car itself (2.7D) was not what I thought it would be. There seemed a very long lag before the speed kicked in after accelerating. Perhaps it was just a "Friday afternoon" car I drove. The interior certainly did not sell it to me; it felt cramped and things like the glove box opening mechanism were gimmicky (and needless to say didn't work the first time it was tried).

    Disappointingly, the experience at the dealership was terrible. I know it has been a successful car but it seemed the salesmen couldn't be bothered to make the effort (and that was before I became lukewarm about the car).

    So I drove to a BMW dealer and got a car that was responsive and where the buying experience was ten times better than at the Jaguar dealership. I have never owned a BMW before and never thought I would!

    My car

    3 months and 4500 miles done in the XF 2.7 diesel and I still smile every morning when I get in. What more can I say? Quality, comfort, pace and looks that may divide opinion but I am having fun. Would never buy a BMW (just dont like them - and before the BMW fan club inundates the site with amazed and aggrieved BMW owner e mails remember it is a free country. I just dont like em)but have driven Mercs this Jag trounces them. I have never owned a car that so many people have wanted to talk to me about. Clearly I am just an attention seeker. Note to BMW owner. You must be tempted or why read this review. Go on admit it! Only niggle the handbook is written in Martian.

    My car

    Great car shame about Jaguar's service - taken a long time for them to sort out a few niggles & some of my extras still haven't arrived! I love the car but feel a bit let down. Marshalls Peterborough get 10 out of 10 for service, I can't fault them - it's just that Jaguar aren't backing them up.
