I have just returned the Lexus to the lease company after four glorious years. The car suffered image wise after a mauling from Clarkson and the Top Gear team who said it was one of the worst cars ever made but I think they were talking of a lost opportunity to create another 'super' car after Lexus had spent millions on developing the Sc430. Had they but read the literature they would have known that was never the aim. Lexus suceeded in making a cruiser in the grand style, smoothest of power plants allied to a gearbox dipped in cream. A truly cossetting interior and the most awesome stereo known to man. A delight to drive but not a car to thrash: both the ride and whole 'attitude' of the car resisted hard driving. "No rear seats" comes the cry,"no boot" they say, do not buy this car as a family vehicle it is not a volvo any more than its a porche. Luxuriate, glide fly(in straight lines and long curves)and watch the stars with the roof down and the stereo on.MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
The lexus is the car i've loved the most, we bought as a surprise 50th birthday present for my mum, we were looking at SLKs but we decided on this due to it having to extra seats and for it's V8! Beuatiful car to drive, added security with the metal roof for most of the time its used as a weekend or special occasion veichle, shame really, petrol is expensive averaging about 24/25 mpg which isn't bad for a car this size..
But beware if you are seriously think about buying this car, get the right colour body and leather and dont get one too old, the pre2002 cars had run flat tyres which cost us £500 to replace..each!!
A great car to own but as a regular car not weekend etc..a really head turner...something different!!
The SC430 is not a sports car in any way, shape or form. Although it has a magnificent 4.3-litre V8, the on-road dynamics are suspect. The handling is reasonable, but completely lacks feel and the ride is not class leading. The power and pace is excellent, however, and the gearbox and engine are both as smooth as a baby's bottom.
The interior quality, as with every Lexus, is outstanding, although there is a slight over-use of wood. The leather is perfect and the stereo is excellent.
But not even Richard Hammond could fit in the rear seats, never mind a normal person! The boot is quite good, but is non-existent when the roof is down. Oh and don't be fooled by people saying that the roof is more trouble than it's worth: this is a Lexus, not a Peugeot.
Overall, a decent car, but not dynamically sound enough for my liking.
this car has everything you could ask for, quality of ride is excellant, all the standard equipment puts in a class of its own, have previously owned mercs and bmw's and this destroys them for build and equipment. No room in back seats but hey who wants room when you are poser and want to show off...Have had it 3years and absolutly no probs. People stop and look when folding roof is operating (electri) its awesome!!!!
Order a brochure, find your nearest dealer or book a test drive
Amazing car, once driven, never forgotton, forget all the pretenders like BMW Z4 and Mercedes SLK, they will never have the passion of a Porsche
I love this car! Handling is great, its fun to drive and even reasonably practical!
